Jo Weeks

Jo is a qualified teacher working in Special Educational Needs for over 30 years . She started her teaching career in a specialist school for primary aged children with SEMH. Until recently, she has spent 17 years in an advisory role for a London Borough Central Specialist SEN Team for Heads, SENDCos and support staff. She now works in schools across SW London, Surrey and beyond offering practical support, training and advice. She is also an Inclusion Quality Mark Assessor for IQM Award . She has experience in working with children with a raft of needs including:

Working with pupils with a raft of SEND and SEMH needs for over 30 years, Jo is passionate about inclusion and early intervention. She provides advice and support, consultation, one to one sessions with pupils, INSET training and more.

What Jo Offers

 

 

General Consultancy Time in School (Whole Day)

​

Schools can ask Jo to focus on a particular class group or year group or work with particular TAs or Teachers, in a more fluid way with immediate verbal feedback and short written summary of intervention. Longer packages can be negotiated.

 

Individual Referrals:

 

Online 1 hour Consultancy

​

Jo can offer on line advice to discuss challenges and potential solutions. This can be a stand alone session, or a bespoke package can then be devised which may include on site visits (location dependant).

 

 

Consultancy in school  4 hours 

​

This can be a new referral or it can be supporting a Teacher/SENDco/TA to help practically implement strategies from a historical report.

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • 2 short observations in different contexts if possible (class and playground)

  • Verbal feedback with strategies

  • 1 short monitoring visit

  • Short bullet point report with recommendations

  • Parent meet offered

 

Practical Support 

​

This offers more time in school liaising with all key staff working with an individual offering verbal immediate strategies with follow up visits.

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • Observations in different contexts on different days

  • Verbal feedback

  • 2 Monitoring visits

  • Short written report

  • Liaising with other professionals if applicable

  • Parent meet offered

 

Full Individual Assessment Report

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • Observations in different contexts on different days

  • Verbal feedback

  • Monitoring visits

  • A Boxall Profile may be completed (if applicable) with short meeting to discuss findings.

  • Full written report with recommendations including Boxall findings (if applicable).

  • Attendance at meetings if applicable (may incur additional cost if more than one)

  • Liaising with other professionals if applicable

  • Parent meet offered

 

 

One to One Half Term package: Approximately 6 one hour bespoke sessions

​

The sessions will focus on the primary emotional need, for example, anger management, positive behaviour strategies, self esteem, social skills, resilience. They can also focus on areas of emotional need identified through the Boxall Profile, IEP, SEN Support plan/behaviour plan or outcomes identified in the pupil’s EHCP . The sessions can take place at school or in the home.

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • Observation

  • Delivery of 6 one to one sessions with resources

  • Short summary report

  • Parent meet offered

Class and Group Work

 

Group Project Half Term package 6 one hour bespoke sessions 

​

The sessions will focus on the main primary emotional need for all of the pupils, for example, anger management, positive behaviour strategies, self esteem, social skills, anxiety/worry, resilience. They can also focus on areas of emotional need identified through the Boxall Profile. 

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • Observation

  • Delivery of 6 one to one sessions with resources

  • Short summary report

  • Parent meet offered if applicable

  • Other group projects offered: circle of friends, peer mediation/playground buddy training with a small group of Y5/6 pupils.

 

 

Classroom Management Support 

​

This can help to support a Newly Qualified Teacher or a Teacher who has a challenging cohort. Bespoke packages can be offered for example, creating an ASD friendly classroom. This does not focus on any one individual.

  • Short meeting with SENDCo and/or class teacher

  • Observations in different contexts if possible (class and playground)

  • Verbal feedback with strategies after observations

  • 2 Monitoring visits

  • Bullet point report of strategies discussed.

Training

 

All School Staff Training 

​

A range of topics can be offered including; general positive behaviour management, working in small groups, introduction to working with children on the Autistic spectrum, Attachment Disorder and being a Trauma Informed school, SEND friendly classrooms/ adaptive teaching , using resources efficiently. Other bespoke packages to suit your needs, can be negotiated.

 

GCSE Access Arrangements 

​

Jo attends up to date training courses by communicate-ed (May 2018, December 2018, May 2019) to carry out scribe/reader role for exams.
